World Cup Winner Betting

It is easy to make a case for half the teams at the World Cup and although it is often worth having a bet on more than one team, you certainly can’t back half the field.

The first group of teams to look at are the favourites, Spain and Brazil. Spain are European Champions and looked invincible until their shock loss against USA in the Confederations Cup. That might have just been a bad day at the office but other teams will sit up and take note and could take advantage of Spain’s defensive frailties. Of the two favourites we would prefer to back Brazil, who won the Confederations Cup last year, have a good record when playing in Africa and also are the only side to win a World Cup when playing outside of their own continent. Brazil are the first of our World Cup tips.

As well as our main World Cup tip, we would recommend backing one or two other teams at much bigger odds. You can either let these World Cup tips ride or alternatively, if they do well and the World Cup odds for each bet fall dramatically, you could lay off on Betfair or any other betting exchange for a guaranteed profit.

There are two sides who we think are good World Cup tips and they should perform well above their World Cup odds. The first is hosts South Africa. Their campaign has been geared towards this for years, they took a young side to the African Nations Cup in order to give them big game experience, and in doing so they may have failed in the short time but in the long term it has paid off. They didn’t look out of place up against the likes of Brazil and Spain at the Confederations Cup and it shouldn’t be underestimated how strong home advantage is. Just look at South Korea, they reached the semi final of the 2002 World Cup when hosting.

The other World Cup tip also played in the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa and that is USA. It will have given them great experience and confidence and after beating Spain in the semi final they looked as though they would beat Brazil in the final, before crumbling a bit late on. They really are an improving side and this World Cup tip should do better than the World Cup odds suggest.
