Uruguay were the worst South American qualifiers, finishing four points behind fellow qualifying strugglers Argentina and a rather large nine points behind Chile and Paraguay, who will get pushed into the same category as Uruguay by many pundits as South American also rans because they are not Brazil or Argentina.
